I booted.... hooked to my wireless network.. BAM... windows explorer has encountered an error. So I'm going to play with the default hardware a bit longer to make sure there isn't something wrong with it before I upgrade the RAM and SSD.... although they sit here... calling to me....
how do I get this keyboard off? I took off the two sscrews in the battery compartment... I thought smoeone had posted the 2140 service guide.. but am having trouble finding it...
Oh never mind... just googleed it.. while I get windows 7 onto my thumb drive I got the RAM and SSD in... doing the bios tests on them just to make sure it all went well..
I recommend everyone check out the bios options. There are a few good things in there to know about... I found one that said "Always turn FAN on while on AC power".... *someone* will want to know that..
It also refers to the chip as "dual-core"... not hyperthreaded... not sure if that is significant or not... some sort of WAN/LAN switchover mode as well.. I'll need to learn about that..
umm... windows 7 + SSD + 2gb + chrome.....nniiiiice
I can't quantify how much each helps..(SSD has to help a lot).. but... its nice and fast. Will post some pics tonight --- need to make sure I get some real work done today in the meantime..
I tried to make an unboxing video, but my camera died (didn't think that one through -- should've charged it first >_>). So I went to get the charger and I think I left it at home (I'm off in college right now). -_- So the unboxing was a failure -- well, I have half of one. ^_^
Other than that, this thing is sweet. Unfortunately, it took ages for the machine to install a bunch of unwanted things on itself. Other than that, from what I've seen so far, i totally <3 it. ^_^

P.S. - Before I forget. This thing ships with the "Touchpad Sensitivity" setting set to one away from the "lightest touch" setting and it was being stupidly difficult. Changing the sensitivity down to lightest touch made it SO much easier for me. Hope it helps anyone with the same issues.
I was all set to receive my FedEx Package (even though I requested UPS because I hate FedEX). And now, that hatred has been reaffirmed. HP gave put the wrong address on the package (not FedEx's fault). Instead of my house number, they put on my HP account number.
Here is where my hatred of FedEx comes into play. They cannot and will not correct the obviously bad house number. Giving the ever-frustrating excuse "it won't let me". They won't call the driver and let me meet him somewhere along his route (something UPS has always allowed for when I've dealt with them).
So I must now drive 45 minutes to their area hub to pick it up later today. Once I get my hands on the package, I'm going to call HP to try to get a partial or complete refund of my shipping costs. A customer shouldn't have to drive 70 miles round trip to get their package.

That totally sucks. I hope HP does, at a minimum, give you a refund on your shipping.
On a side note, I finally figured out how to get Windows on this thingm (got it working, that is) at like 3 AM last night. I then realized that I have no use for Windows at all. >_> So I scrapped the whole thing and now I have Ubuntu up and running. And yes, it is so very succulent,

Let me know how your dealing with HP goes. I know someone who works at HP and they have a program called "Voice of the Customer" where an HP employee can escalate things like this.
I'll add some more if I can figure out what else to take pictures of. Or other ways to show off the screen. (which I really love). Or maybe some simple movie showing various things.
