HP Mini 1000 Touchscreen Guide
Okay first off do this mod at your own risk, second there seem to be only two locations available I can find for sure in this case.. The locations are where the usb port for the hp mobile drive is or where the wwan minipci card goes..Anywhere else I didn't consider due to size.
Here are the guides to pulling this badboy apart:
http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2008/12/h ... ected.html This is okay, but I liked the manual better myself plus doesn't contain anything on remove the bezel far as I know.
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=28 I like this best, showed me everything on anything for this notebook.
I am doing this install for the guide in where the HP mobile drive was, I might do a minipci version when I get a new screen.
Okay, after you have it pulled apart remove the hard drive to the caddy, you won't need the caddy anymore. After the bezel is off CLEAN your screen,
anything on it or the touchscreen on the inside will be stuck in there if you aren't careful.
Okay, first off remove the HP mobile drive. Next, cut the cable for the usb port and solder the wires into the controller itself.
Just drop the controller anywhere really, but also note that I don't think you'll be able to use a runcore drive with the controller located here (according to what I know, feel free to correct me on this issue)
Just run below the henge like the guide says for all wiring going to the bezel and I'd suggest taping or hot gluing them in place.
After that prepare to place the touchscreen on the lcd, if you notice any finger prints or dust now would be the time to clean them as once the screen is on its not coming out unless you pull it off and clean it.
I'll include an bonus tip:
Don't like how bright the LEDs are? I used a sharpie to block out some of the light and dull them down while you are already in the area.
Sorry the guide isn't so hot, but should be able to show its doable.. I know for a fact the touchscreen will fit in the bezel as I ran the controller outside of the notebook plugged into one of my usb ports. The very top image is with the screen control ribbon sticking out of the top of the screen.
