Mini 110-1115CA Wifi Attempt

I have a strategy I need to try, but I need someone who has a Mini 110 with 10.5 and Developer tools: specifically a copy of the IORegistryExplorer.

I've found the WIFI card in the [10.6] Registry and it shows all its properties. (power, links, etc.) What I want to do is compare parameters from someone who has WIFI working in 10.5x with my clean install of 10.6.1

I know that if I install the 10.5 kext files, the airport will show up, but it won't work.

If someone were to take a screen shot of the device in the IORegistryExplorer it would help a lot.

Also, if someone who had 10.6.1 with the old Mini 1000 card, a screen shot of that would be handy too.

If I figure out the combination of settings, I will post a how-to-fix unsing the Property List Editor, after testing.

If you have a copy of the IORegistryExplorer, select IODeviceTree from the drop-down at the top, click on "/" in the lower left window, then type "pci14e" in the top search field. All instances of the active WIFI kext references will show. Anything that isn't active, is not loaded. (won't show). But what does, will show. Take a screen shot of that and post it. I will compare with what mine says, and perhaps figure out where it's broken.

here is what you are asking for: i have a compaq mini 110 (1020SL) with leopard 10.5.8 installed and fully working wifi; i tried SL but nothing to do with the wifi..so i reinstalled Leo..hope this can help

Is there any way to know if the network card you have is the same as the one I have? I'm not sure what differences there are between your Compaq and my HP.

Hi, glad to know that someone is willing to try to fix the wifi problem. I have linux installed (deleted snow leo coz the wifi couldn't work n i dun hav the technical expertise to make it work) so if u need anything from linux just ask

Accordingly to what i've read in various forums there are only two models of wifi cards: in the US, HP Mini 1000, working with SL, has this part number: 504593-001; the Mini 110, which only works with Leo, is 504593-003 .
In Europe and other countries part numbers are +1 (Mini 1000 is 504593-002 and Mini 110 is 504593-004) but they are the same cards, so i belive we have the same one

Yes. What I'm trying to replicate is the part where 10.6 sees the card, but can't activate it. Then I will look at what the differences between the 1000 card and the 110 card are. I just need someone to post 10.5.7 kext files from the version that allows 10.6 to see the card.

It is the kext that works well in leopard but doesn't work in snow.. it only makes the card visible in network connections..always off

Hmm. For some reason I can't even get the network panel to show locations of anything much less a card. No interface is shown.

Perhaps I've broken the possibility of replicating the said condition by upgrading to 10.6.1 from 10.6.0?
