okay this might sound really dumb.

if it isn't the kext that is allowing it to work... then where are we expecting the difference to be? what file would be holding different information from the upgrade to 10.6 rather than a clean install of 10.6?

drexus i really feel like even though your method didn't work to get the install completed you were on the right track.

In /System/Library/SystemConfiguration there are lots of seemingly wifi related bundles...

could this be the place where previous settings were saved from 10.5.6?

In my experience distros plain old SUCK. iDeneb, iPC, SnowOSX, iAtkos. These are all distros. They are completely hacked and modified to run on pcs. Retail is unaltered. PURE. And yes i had wifi working on 10.5.8 befor i upgraded this hp mini 110-1125NR to snow leopard.

Agreed about distros thebuzbie.

Can I ask a weird favour?

Could you cd to /System/Library

and then do
Code: Select all
sudo ls -alR > out.txt
and post it?

I just want to compare it to mine. Talk about a needle in a haystack.

Can you post a dump of what running "lspci -vvnn" (without quotes) shows on your system please? lspci package can be found here: http://www.x86dev.org/forum/index.php?topic=307.0

I have a HP Mini1031nr with 10.5.5 on it. I have an external DVD drive and a retail copy of SL. When I put the DVD in, in mounts and I start the installer with no problem. I can not start the install because "Continue" is cut off. does anyone have ideas what I can do to start the install?

You can always use the magical tab button... even if the "Continue" is off screen.

I tried that and it works ok. But now it goes up to 48 minutes left in the install and then it reboots. I am unable to install it this way.

Same here, got the same thing as you. However, I've been able to "upgrade" by booting from the SL install drive. Don't know how this differs from a regular upgrade, but my WiFi wasn't working afterwards. It's probably because I took the same IO80211Family.kext from 10.5.6, though.
Anyone know how to use vanilla 10.5.8's IO80211Family and edit it to work? I've tried editing the plist and adding the correct ID, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything.
HP Mini 110 Have gotten 10.5.6 with WiFi, 10.5.8, and 10.6.0.
