NC-10 Special Edition

NC-10 Special Edition

New postby Kenn_d » Sat Feb 07, 2009 12:33 am

I've been looking over this site constantly for a good while now and after meticulously reviewing others, I had my mind set on a mini 1000 ..until I saw the NC-10. The non-glossy(non reflective) screen, the VGA out, the 3 usb's, the separate head phone/mic jacks, the much bigger HD((160gb at 5400rpm)I know MOST netbooks now have most, if not all these things too), and the big set point for me; The STANDARD 6 CELL BATTERY, were what was making me decide between the two.
Well now I've made my decision... The NC-10 Special Edition. Apparently this has all the same goodies as the original with these three improvements; An "anti-reflection gloss coating display", a bigger touch pad(previous models as some of you know were on the small side of things), and yes, a high capacity 5900mAh 6 cell battery rated up to 9.4hrs of continuous run-time! All for about 50$ more than the original.. which is d**m worth it to me.. bringing the price up to 499$. Releasing soon. My girlfriend just pre-ordered it for me as an anniversary gift :D. I'm not saying the mini's are at all bad. Please don't think I'm just here writing this to put them down. It's not my intention.

Why not get the Hp mini 2140, Its better than the NC10 crap :P It has the same specs mostly, cept you can get the hard drive in a 7200rpm version with the 2140 (You can also manually upgrade it to like a 320gb 7200rpm which is what ill be doing when I order mine) :) also the 2140 has a 5/4 express slot which you can make it... 4usb's or... a modem... tons of stuff lol. Plus the battery life is better and it has quick charge ability which charges super quick ^-^ Plus it just looked way nicer ^-^ better keyboard better everything :)

Its a samsung = korean and all korean products I have ever bought other than LCD monitors and tv's have died on me way too quickly. They aren't that badly made either so I'm assuming they are doing something to where it will break down after a certain time period? I don't know. I just know that until I start seeing a bunch of people with 3-4 year old korean products say "yeah i'm still using mine" come up, I will be weary of buying korean products.

You should actually read through anything you want to respond to, otherwise its a waste of time trying to convince someone something that won't happen.

Personally the 9 hour battery life is incredibly convincing.
I'm stuck with 2 3-cells I have to swap out, and it only gives half of that.
I'm very interested in how Samsung found a way to increase the capacity/lower the consumption.

Btw, DrunkSaru define the other korean products besides computers and monitors that have stopped working for you. Cell phones?

Its whatever. The only thing that i sorta like about the samsung is how they made they battery a higher capacity but made it so it doesnt jut out the bottom like most 6+ cells, but i like how the hp mini's look way better :\

I was faced with a similar dilemma. What to get the NC10 or the 700 Mini? I chose the mini and it should be here (hopefully) by tommorow. My main gripes with the NC10 is the keyboard, as it is too small and some keys are oddly sized. It is also has a tiny touchpad, which supports vertical scrolling so you have even smaller space on the touchpad after you take that into account. Also, there have been stories of the exterior of the NC10 disintigrating after a few months use.

The NC10 has longer battery life, but I am not worried about battery life as I am nearly always near a power source. I am a student so I needed a large keyboard as I will be doing a lot of typing, and also the HP Compaq brand are very reliable. My Dad has had a HP XP laptop for 5 years and it has never failed, I have a Vista HP laptop which is also very reliable. That is why I go with HP Compaq.
