Might just be a question on Jave issue or something, can't really say. So, yep, either that or the vid just hasn't loaded fully yet for flawless playing.

Anyone here who's more knowledgeable on the subject care to shed some much needed light on this? :D

thanks for the reply bro! in my macbook, it seemed to stream well... :)

i think it has more to do with the hardware than the OS. I'm dual booting with windows. Hulu videos would be really jumpy in OSX so i watched them in XP to see if there was a difference. It's just as jumpy. I think it has to do with the processor/graphics card. If you have an activity monitor on while watching a movie you'll notice it almost maxes out on online videos. The only thing i did which helped a little is to download the new Flash 10 player from the adobe website for mac. It improved videos to some extent. Also make sure you have NO other processes in the background. Even just sitting with facebook open in another window dramatically decreased performance on online videos.

Hey, this question is regarding how to enable the Quartz Extreme.

It seems that many of you guys have been able to figure this out, can anybody give me a detailed guide on how to do this?

I realize its something simple, such as installing new kexts. I just need to know which ones and where I can find them, as well as how do I install them and if I need to repair permisions?

On a separate topic, I found that I neededseveral kexts including AppleIntelGMAGA.plugin but haven't been able to find it.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi bobby, thanks for your inputs. I realized it was about the processor as videos (avi files) are relatively ok. checked out what you said about the activity monitor and it is spiking to the max.

It does improve vid streaming! Thanks a lot for the tip.

I've updated to Safari 4 and with Flash Player 10 - though short of what you'd call stellar performance, I think there's some improvements in vid streaming experience compared to the previous version. (Maybe it's just because Safari 4 is faster)

Also, I noticed that watching avi files is better on the hackintosh hp mini than on the hackintosh msi wind - less hiccups in forward/rewind.

Thanks so much LeMaurien!

I actually used iChat and Photobooth before updating so it was a huge deal when it stopped working.
Incase any one is having the same problem, the kexts have to be installed using OSX86Tools with Repair Permissions checked. The first time, I didn't do this and instead the resolution got all messed up..

Thanks again!

go to System Preferences > Sound > Output (I think it's the 2nd tab?):
there are several entries in the box - PCM; Master; etc. which you can adjust via the slider at the bottom of the window. It's up to you to fiddle with the settings till you get the results you want.

The Altec Lansing speaker can be pretty loud actually, you'd be surprised :) doesn't have problems filling up an entire room in my experience.

I'm afraid the volume controller that's accessible from the menubar isn't that useful - I hardly use it, save for muting for ex. but then there's a Fn+F8 shortcut for that. I suggest you set the volume manually in Sys Pref at the loudest setting you find comfortable as default (I don't set it to 100% so as not to put too much strain on the speaker - but then again, maybe that's just me) and then just adjust volume up/down from the apps themselves like iTunes or VLC.

Actually...what Browser are you using? Firefox is terrible with flash (Hulu, youtube, etc)....and i HIGHLY recommend safari 4 for your flash video experiences...

Although...i suppose it still could be a hardware thing. My mini is still on 10.5.6 so no Safari 4 for me. I notice this significant difference on my MacBook....where FF videos are choppy.
