Hi runawayprisoner that's really great what you've done ! But can you explain exactly how to do it, i've downloaded the driver and i've opened the INF, i have tried to change NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01 = "NVIDIA ION LE " in NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01 = "NVIDIA ION "
and i have replace this kind of line %NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01% = Section016, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_087F in %NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01% = Section016, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0876
Is it what you've done cause i haven't noticed any changes in GPUZ...

Thanks

Don't replace any lines... just add another line underneath that contains basically the same info, expect instead of 0876, it's 087F

What you're doing is adding another device to the driver that it's "allowed" to install for. If you tried to install the ION driver as it is, it wouldn't recognize our 087F device, but by adding another line, we're telling it that now it is okay to install for either ION or ION LE.

...I supposed you COULD replace the ION lines with ION LE lines, but I think for tampering purposes, it's better to just add a new line.

By the way, I did this on mine and my 3dmark06 score jumped up over 300 points.

I can't get 3dmark vantage to work, it says the resolution isn't supported?

Okay, I guess that's enough teasing. And I've tested these drivers enough to make sure they won't crash and burn down (the only reason why I didn't want to tell you, because if anything happened...). Anyway, so I'll upload the drivers I'm using right now, and then I'll create a thread dedicated solely to modding the newer drivers so that they work with ION LE and provide DX10 support.

Shin06, that's quite right, but not... quite. You gotta change "%NVIDIA_DEV.0876.01% = Section0xx, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0876" instead.

Change the "Section0xx" part to whatever "Section" it is that is in "%NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01% = Section0xx, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_087F".

So say... if it's "%NVIDIA_DEV.087F.01% = Section016, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_087F" then you should have "%NVIDIA_DEV.0876.01% = Section016, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0876"

If it's too much work to do (it'll be a lot of work to do in later drivers since most of them don't even have a section for any ION chip for that matter), then I'll upload my own tested drivers in a different thread.

And solarnoise, if you want to run Vantage, I believe you have to run a custom benchmark instead. Here are the scores at 1366 x 768:

Already modded drivers up in 5 mins. :)

I've just forced it to accept the HP drivers, totally unmodified. It shows as a fully DX10 Nvidia ION. Tested the DMC4 Benchmark and...

Yeah, that works too, I guess. But when there is no ION section, the drivers won't install. Try 191.56 and you'll see what I mean. :)

I presume this will work with future drivers then, which is good! I've just tried it with the latest non-beta drivers from the nvidia site, 191.07, and it also works with them.

I noticed you could install it as a non-LE last week but I didn't even think to check for DX10, nice work :D

3dmark Vantage is telling me this: Minimum required resolution is not supported

I own the professional version of Vantage, and have tried setting it to different resolutions in the OPtions, but still getting t he error.

Has anyone been able to run Vantage on Win7 with the modified drivers?

Yes, I have. It just won't give you the final score since it's not the "real" test at 1280 x 1024.

You can try connecting to an external monitor and run it, though. Or if you have an HDTV that supports up to 1080P (or 1080I is good enough) then just connect via HDMI.

I have used the hack with the latest drivers in WIndows 7 and it works great. I believe that HP made it easy on purpose. GPUZ is showing full ION with DX10 support and my WIndows score went up however I have not real benchmarking yet.
