Mini 1000 vs 1100 series.

New postby MiniKJ » Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:36 am

I wanted to open this up to discussion since it deals with the "new" models of HP Mini's.

On the Drivers page for the HP Mini's it says:
» HP Mini 1000 PC series
» HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition PC series
» HP Mini 1100 PC series
» HP Mini 1100 Vivienne Tam Edition PC series

I am curious as to knowing why the Mini 1000 has jumped to 1100 and same with the Vivienne Tam edition. I assume it is because they are newer editions with revisions such as a 10.1" display instead of a 10.2" display, anyone have any ideas on this one?

Once you click onto "HP Mini 1100 PC Series" these new models appear:
» HP Mini 1130NR PC
» HP Mini 1133CL PC
» HP Mini 1135NR PC
» HP Mini 1141NR PC

Just thought it was interesting. A break a way already from the "1000" series.

*UPDATE*
Mikez just showed us that the Mini 1100 series will come with ExpressCard slots:

PC Card Slots

* One ExpressCard/54 slot (also supports ExpressCard/34)

Since the Vivienne Tam edition is currently sold as an 1000, and only has a 10.1" screen, I"m guessing that there's more to it than just that.

The n280 is what's got me thinking it's worth an actual revision change.

Looking at the Canadian HP website, I get the idea that the 1100 is the Mini Mi edition and the 1000 is the XP edition.

The Mini Mi is still being sold as an 1000 series, though. I think there's something else that'll connotate a revision.

Atom isn't due until H2 2009, which might mean that's too far off for a real announcement. But then again, vga cables were probably announced awhile ago too.

maybe they are going the route of other manufacturers by offering up an 11 or 12 inch variation of the original version. Dell has done this as well as samsung, msi and im sure other brands are soon to follow.

i know the 2140 should have an express slot, but i dont think any of the lower end ones (mini 1000, 1100) would. That tends to be geared towards the business crowd.
