There is compiled a some tricks with HP/Compaq Mini 311 BIOS:
Mini have 2 type of BIOS locks:
1) USB lock for WWAN cards on both slots
2) PCIE lock for WLAN cards on halfsize slot
USB LOCK
You wish to install not "native" 3G Mini PCI-E card into your Mini311?
Receive "105 error" and the sentence to throw out your card?
1. Download from HP site last (it was tested with F.04) native BIOS
2. Unrar obtained file with WinRAR
3. Unrar one again obtained 3651F04.EXE file with WinRAR
4. We receive a directory:
- Code: Select all
* 3651F04.fd
* Ding.wav
* InsydeFlash.exe
* iscflash.dll
* iscflash.sys
* noname
* platform.ini
5. Get EZH20 BIOS editor (attached)
6. Start exh2o.exe, open 3651F04.fd file from obtained directory
7. Select: Components-> Module-> Delete existing module
7. Search for 7FA4AE0A-1404-4DCC-BE28-CE58029CF5D1, and press Patch

8. Select: File-> Save, and exit.
9. Execute InsydeFlash, and press [Start]
10. reboot – all is done

3. Unrar one again obtained 3651F04.EXE file with WinRAR
4. We receive a directory:

5. Get EZH20 BIOS editor (attached)
6. Start exh2o.exe, open 3651F04.fd file from obtained directory
7. Strat WINHEX (or any other direct memory HEXeditor)
8. Open RAM -> Ezh2o -> Entrie Memory
9. Find HEX Values -> "2F9F2FE69548B54A" (landmark, was found in front of the line will be clearly visible «EEPROM» in ASCII)
10. From this place Find HEX Values -> "CB0200005984C075"
11. Replace 75 (JNZ short) to EB (JMP short)
12. SAVE
13. Switch back to EzH2O, File -> Save As, exit.
14. Run InsydeFlash -> Start -> OK
15. ALL DONE
Change NVIDIA ION LE to NVIDIA ION
1. Run HPUSBFW.EXE to make USB bootable disk with HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and MiniDos system (attached])
3. Copy HPBQ189.exe and HPBC228.exe to USB disk
3. Boot with your flashdisk and run HPBQ189.exe or HPBC228.exe (depends for models, with wrong model program don't start)
4. Press [G] for HPBQ189 or [O] for HPBC228
5. Select Vista OS installed, and exit.
6. Reboot - Now you have NVIDIA ION with Device ID:0876h
Problem with wireless mouse receivers
In firmware F.04 and below is the problem - hangs when booting while connected with wireless mouse receiver, such as Logitech Nano Receiver
The problem in the module initiation UsbMouse: 2D2E62AA-9ECF-43B7-8219-94E7FC713DFE, with its removal efficiency of USB mice retained - checked with Logitech VX Nano in Windows 7 Ultimate and Ubuntu 9.10

8. Select: File-> Save, and exit.
9. Execute InsydeFlash, and press [Start]
10. reboot – all is done
COMPAQ "Tape worm on blood" boot logo
If you do not like the red background with a "tape worm on blood"
Make a bootable MiniDOS USB stick, put there HPBQ189.exe
Boot, run HPBQ189, press [4] and change NOTEBOOK MODEL on HP Mini 311-1000
Also you can use EZH2O editor (Components -> Logo -> replace compaq or hp) to put you own black or red background logo 126x126 sized
PS If you "spoiled" your BIOS :
1. On a clean USB Flash Drive is formatted FAT16 or FAT32, copy original 3651F04.fd file, and rename it to 3651.BIN
2. Disconnect power suply and remove the battery
3. Press and hold Win and B keys
4. Connect the power supply and press the power button
5. release the Win and B keys after 3-5 seconds
6. recovery process will begin to load the BIOS image in memory
7. after few seconds computer start beeping every 2 seconds - a process of flash BIOS
8. computer shuts down automatically after flashing done
9. you have been saved
