We original got word that the HP Mini 210 would be released February 1st, 2010 but it seems that the launch date has been brought forward a whole month…

Peter at Netbooked noticed that in the HP’s affiliate catalog the HP Mini 210 series is listed with a launch date of January 7th, meaning the HP Mini 210 and its Compaq associate will be available this next week. Pricing details were also noted: the standard HP Mini 210 will start at $279.99 and the HD version at $329.99 (high resolution display).

UPDATE: The Compaq CQ10 is not the same as the HP Mini 210. A Compaq CQ10 is also listed at $259.99, most likely an HP Mini 210 rebranding.

Peter also noticed that the HP Pavilion DM1 was not mentioned in the launch which begs the question of whether HP scrapped the launching in the U.S. The HP Mini 210 was also discovered in a listing at Amazon Germany.

I’ll be in Las Vegas for CES this year so I’ll be sure to get some hands on video of this one and let you know about it :)

Looks like it’s going to be a great netbook though!

Given the design similarity to the Envy line, and therefore to Macbooks, it will be interesting to see how compatible they will be with OS X. Fingers crossed.

Well that’s interesting, I thought the MINI 210′s were coming with Flush Glass Displays.

And I’m disappointed that the 6-cell battery protrudes from the bottom still!!

I’m actually happy that a anti-glare screen is available, but I hope that the 720p screen will have an anti-glare option as well.

    How does the touchpad work?

    Anti-Glare + flush glass display?

Does that make sense to anyone?

Flush glass display screams glossy to me.

the touch pad works well. It’s all one pad then you touch the left or right buttons as needed. I got 2 of the for my kids to use so I don’t get to play with them often (the netbooks not the kids).

Another interesting question will be battery life.

The Mini 1000′s and Mini 110′s had mediocre battery life, and with that honkin battery + pinetrail, I sure hope this thing can pump out at least 7 hours!

Is there some guide somewhere online or in the help that comes installed on this thing indicating where you even go to upgrade the RAM? I don’t see a single exposed screw (thought I haven’t looked under the battery). I just posted this question to the forum here, too:
    http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=3323
with the idea that might be a good place to add the note…

you have to pry the bottom off at the edged and push in the orange buttons under the battery to fully release it.
